Breaking Down the Ordinary

There lies a world, hidden from time and a stranger to our concept of space, an odd yet intriguing world of fantasy. This world, at first glance, is much like ours, but upon closer inspection, holds wonder beyond what ours is capable of. A world where flight has been achieved without the need of tools, and magic shares the same theoretical significance of science. A world where dragons roam free, and the skies are controlled by the hands of its inhabitants. The existence of such a place could perhaps seem strange and unfathomable to you and I, but to the people that live there, it is simply ordinary.

It is in this world where a young woman slumbers, eager to experience the value of friendship.

Hello everyone, and welcome to the "Introductory piece" of a small fan-project I've named Ordinary Friendship. For those of you that are insufficient in picking up context clues, Ordinary Friendship is an artistic project inspired by the setting of acclaimed show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and aesthetics of cult favorite anime Nichijou, which takes the world of the former and puts it into human form.

This is actually no different from your common humanization fare. The name in this case is just to help keep all my future works in order, for I'm planning on drawing many different comics, pictures and even animations the show. But of course, with this venture comes a few deadstops. FiM, being about a magical world of talking animals, houses traits and idiosyncrasies that don't really transfer well and thus certain liberties are taken without having to resort to much anthropomorphism (which is not to speak negatively of it, I'm just not very good at it). That's where "Breaking Down the Ordinary" comes in.

For the next few drawings, I'm gonna be explaining how some of the things in the original will be handled in this fan-project, hopefully answering a few questions in the process. Why and how is Rainbow Dash able to fly? How will cutie marks be handled? And why does Rarity have 2 horns? All will be answered with "Breaking Down the Ordinary". This picture will be the hub (heh, heh) by which seperate pages can be viewed.

Some of these liberties and ideas will no doubt attract ire from some of the fandom - I've even experienced some of it first hand - and to the ones that feel that way I say "I'm just having a little fun. Don't worry, I still think ponies are best "
